Hello,
I've used the fence file to get the contours to a separate file, but they are still part of the terrain. If I drop the terrain, I get the contours, but all the contour text disappears. How do I get contour labels into a basic 2d dgn? Export to dtm and label in native?
Thanks,
Tom F.
Hey Marc,
Thanks for the reply. Merging the terrain into master did not work for me (CONNECT or SS4). Even tried merging in a terrain created from a dtm in ORD (we are still on SS4). I can see the contour text when I reference in the terrain model. When I do a merge into master I just get the contours as a cell, no labels. If I select that cell the only items in it are linestrings. All the levels are on. Are there any setting in OpenRoads or CONNECT that would make the text not display (scaling issue, missing font file etc.)?
I asked this question at a Bentley training session. The Bentley trainer said with the contours displayed you could "drop" the terrain (or mesh). I haven't had a chance to try it yet. The contours slow the files down so much I would rather have the contours and elevations in a separate file as lines and text. This would allow users to attach the contours when needed. Also allows users to cleanup the contour lines and text for plan production.
Zane,
Just tried dropping the terrain, also tried fence file to another file and still no contour labels. I did place some test contour labels in ORD and those came thorough as dimensions. Plan production is really the reason I'm looking into this. We've shown a few people how to reference in the terrain model and display the contours and labels in MicroStation and that's going OK - for design purposes though.
I meant the texts created with the Label Terrain Contours tool, not the automatic ones displayed with the TM. yes those ones disappear when merged.
See my answer to Mark above. yes if you mean the automatic texts displayed with the TM, they disappear when merged. You can use the Label terrain Contours tool.
