Power InRoads SS4 (08.11.09.904)
In the Create Cross Sections dialog, Controls, Critical Sections part... I check off Horizontal and Vertical Cardinal Points because I want sections drawn at those stations. They don't get created.
Is this known NOT to work? Trying to determine why I don't get sections automatically drawn at those stations. Any inputs?

I just did a test in Power InRoads SS4 (08.11.09.878) and Power GEOPAK (08.11.09.903) I am getting the critical sections to appear. For clarification, you DO want there to be a check mark under the controls > critical sections > 'Horizontal Cardinal Point' and 'Vertical Cardinal Point' if you want it to include a cross section cut at the PC, PT, etc.
With that said, are you using the "Custom" cross sections where you are adding station ranges and different intervals to build the cross section set? If this is the case, that may be why they aren't appearing. The Custom Cross Sections needs to have these stations specifically entered and will not display the cross section of a 'critical section'. This wasn't always the case. It used to include these critical sections but due to requests from users, I believe this combination was changed where you must add it into the custom sections if you want it to display any section.

Yes, I'm using custom cross sections. I went back and tried plain vanilla and found it to get the Cardinals, just as you said. I need my Customs to include pavement widening at begin and end, plus driveway centerlines. I need it all, including Cardinals.
Best of both worlds, at least have an automatic way to add Cardinals to my custom set. Not sure what ORD has available now, but I can't wait to get out of 32-bit environment!
Thank you Chris.
I would run a geometry report on the horizontal and profile to get the stations of the PC, PT, VPT, etc. and add them to the custom cross sections as a single station (perpendicular) entry OR you can build the custom xsc text file which could be formatted and input to include all the stations/entries you want for the custom cross sections. If you don't have an overly complex geometry, it may be easier to just go in and add individual perpendicular stations.

I thought that's what the single station perpendicular was doing for me, creating a .xsc text file, no?
Incidentally, that's how I have to delete a section, go to .xsc, find, delete, save, & re-import. Not sure what what method you are speaking of.
I also noticed pattern lines appear this morning, but they are gone now. Much to learn again!
