deleting obsolete utility networks

Hello, all.

I am trying to find out how to delete an obsolete utility network from my main ORD file. I loaded a LandXML file from a colleague/team member to be able to show in our design (didn't really need the full network, just the 3D components, but thought we'd try it out). Anyway, he had some updates, sent those to me to reload, and now I can't. I get the error message that "Import is not allowed into a model that already has a utility project attached." I have tried simply selecting the elements and deleting, individually highlighting and using the mouse–over delete from the mini–ribbon, selecting individual components in the SU Model tab in Explorer (which DOES delete the components), but I can't seem to delete the master/parent container.

I'd simply like to be able to import a fresh model by clearing this one out, but I can't find out how.

Any help/guidance greatly appreciated!

  • I'm sure I could do that, but what would have been nice is to have known that "once a model, always a model . . ." and that I should have brought it into its own empty model. I now have a utility network (at least by listing) included in my model that has other things in it I need. Plus, It was the defaultt model anyway, so it's not like I can delete it after copying things to a new one.

It did say that I "can't undo this," but that didn't tell me that I needed to have a separate model to bring it in and could never delete it. I assumed that —like alignments, corridors, terrain models, etc.— there would be some provision for selecting the referenced graphics and deleting it, or at least choosing it from a list and deleting it there.

So that's the answer? That you can't delete them (other then the entire model into which they were imported)?

Live and learn, I suppose. Thanks for the thoughts.
