&lt;p&gt;also when I attach the ground surface, I don&amp;#39;t select the &amp;quot;Apply levels to refrence string&amp;quot; , as shown in another attached image.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;So the levels of both design centre line and ground should be different is profile.&lt;/p&gt;

MX will drape a string onto the existing surface if that is what you ask it to do. Are you using vertical alignment tools to create the proposed profile?&lt;/p&gt;
