Editing Prototypes in SUDA.

UDOT has specific storm drain boxes, grates, splash over velocities, clogging percentage, and many more values they specify.

How do I edit the prototypes in SUDA?

Sincerely,

Charles

You will need to make a new entry in the Conduit Catalog for the boxes and specify the sizes there, as well as the Mannings n, Kutter's n, Darcy-Weisbach e, and Hazen-Williams C. You will need to create a new feature definition and linear feature type for your boxes as well. Under the feature definition, there is an entry for "Hydraulic Prototype". For boxes, I have created a prototype called "RCB" (in Oklahoma, these are Reinforced Concrete Boxes). If you type in "Prototypes" in the keyin, you can create a new prototype there and specify all of the hydraulic properties within. So, the primary keyins to alter information/ add new entries are "Conduit Catalog" and "Prototypes. As regards inlets, there is an "Inlet Catalog" keyin as well to make/ add prototypes there as well. Just remember that you have nodes (Inlets, Manholes, etc) and also linear features (pipes and boxes of varying materials)  and feature definitions to as well, all of which are to be tied to element templates.

Yes, it is a LOT of work. Beware of one caveat: The pipes and boxes will not be drawn at a width unless there is an mline or linestyle assigned to the element template, which means- currently- that each pipe/ box size will have to have its own element template in order to show up with a proper width in the 2D view. There is an SR to read the pipe widths directly from the Conduit Catalog (like SS2 read directly from its *.dat file), but so far it has not been employed.

I do not see any ability within the software to define splash-over velocities or clogging percentage, however. One could define the later by changing the size of the grate in order to "fool" the software into calculating a smaller capture area, I suppose.

P.S.- there are many folks out here who have much more experience with this software than do I. Please chime in!!
