ORD 2019 R2 - Is there a fast way to find Feature Definition

As far as I know a Feature Definition can be chosen in the Feature Defnition Toggle Bar and at the Tool itself. Our organisation has hundreds of Features with long Feature Names and paths. The small toolboxes looks far from ideal.

What could help:

-A Feature Window (like the Level Manager). A bigger Window gives a larger overview over the hundreds of Features.

-A search Function.

Are the such functions in ORD and if the answer is no, is it an idea to implement this in the future.

  • Hi Louis,

Have you tried the Geometry > Design Elements > Select by Graphical Feature command? Its probably the best thing we have so far and also allows wildcards. More tools are necessary though...

If you know some VBA, you can also use it to write a macro that scans the DGN and can search using "property handlers". Here's something I put together using MicroStation VBA:

  • Thank you Mark, this macro looks also interesting. I hope Bentley get's inpired by it.

As far as I know the filters doesn't look in the features - dgnlibs.

  • Hopefully...

Looking at the Edit Filters Civil Features list dialog it seems to also include all Feature Definitions in my dgnlibs - definitely more tools needed though...a "Civil" Powerselector or "Civil" Select by Attributes would be very helpful.

One thing we need is a Select by Corridor or Isolate by Corridor tool, especially for busy 2D models, and also the option to search for elements with "No Feature Definition".

    Regards,

    Mark
