Using ORD 10.070132 (just upgraded this morning to try to solve the issue below, but it didn't help)
I'm trying to drape a simple line to STM and I get this message: "Not able to drape anything with element 2"
Suggestions?
Are you using the "Drape Element" tool from the "Scalable Terrain Model" dialog and not the one from the Point Clouds/Reality Mesh managers?
I couldn't find a toolbox like I used in Inroads so I just type "drape" in the search and get this. I tried the second drape tool but couldn't figure out what the parameters were asking for, and with no manual I just gave up.
I've uploaded the data. The initial view appears as the above. The line(s) I'm trying to drape are in the REQD ROW level, parallel and left of the proposed pathway on the left side of the road.
Can you also send the STM file that you wish to use with the drape tool?
I'll upload the .stm file, but I thought it was an already an element within the ORD .dgn file itself.
Hi Andrew,
Try removing the clipped STM element first. Then use the Drape tool by selecting the lines required.
I deleted the clipped STM and tried to drape both remaining terrain models with two different elements. Still not working.
The file you gave me has just the exist4.stm (after deleting the clipped) Ensure the you have switched the level containing the STM on as it must be displayed. I switched to View 4 which has all level turned on and was able to select each line for draping successfully. There were 3.
If you wish you can create service request and we can have a screen sharing session.
I was not aware that the terrain model level needed to be on to be draped. When the view is anything other than wireframe you typically can't see what are essentially 2D elements at elevation 0 because the terrain is above and blocking them from view. Anyway, it worked - thanks.
