Apologies if this is more of a Microstation question. I am trying to place lighting and signage 3D cells into my OpenRoads model and also have them display as symbols for drawing production purposes. Is there a way to do this? I have come from using Civil 3D and this can be achieved using Multi-View Blocks, i don't know whether there is anything similar in OpenRoads/Microstation?

In ORD, you can define a 2D cell and a 3D cell when creating a Point Feature Definition. When you place the Point Feature, if you specify no elevation, the 2D cell will get placed in the 2D file. If you want to assign an elevation, you can specify a fixed elevation, a terrain element or a corridor top mesh. The software will then place the 3D cell in the 3D model automatically.
This is all defined in the Feature Definition, which points at a Feature Symbology which points at Element Template(s). In the Feature Symbology, you can use the Default Element Template, if you want to use one element template for any mode of display for this Points symbology. Otherwise, you would leave Defaults set to None, and then under Plan, define the 2D element template, under 3D, define the 3D element template and under Profile, define the profile element template.

Hello Caddcop, I'm having some issues with this same subject. I managed to get the 2D cell working, but I cant get the 3D cell working. I made 2 separate element templates (tree 2D and tree 3D), added them to the Feature symbology at plan and 3D, but still only the 2D Cell ever shows up. when I add a point and set it on a certain elevation, nothing happens. When I place it on a corridor, nothing happens. Could you explain how you got this working exactly? Hope to hear from you!
When you look into the Feature Definition Properties, It should be defined as a Point Feature.
In Ss4/10 In its properties, it will have a Plan and a 3D section.. You can define a different Element Template for each, using a 2D and 3D cells, respectively. If using Native Style, the 3D comes from a surface definition while Plan comes from Geometry Point definition.
If in ORD, the Point has a Feature Symbology and within it, there is the Plan and 3D Element Template. The Plan should point at a 2D cell and the 3D at a 3D cell.

I'm having some issues creating some civil points with 3D cells as symbologies. I decided to associate our old native cell library to civil points, but there seems to be a scale problem when inserting my point.
Here's what I'm getting:
I tried putting the scale at 1,1,1 and no scale defined, but it's the same result:
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Are the cells defines as Annotative? There is a setting in the model's properties related to cell usage and one is about being annotative. (You can open a cell library just like a DGN file and each cell is its own model where you can edit it directly or modifies its properties in the Model Properties dialog box.)
