Hi,
Apologies if this is more of a Microstation question. I am trying to place lighting and signage 3D cells into my OpenRoads model and also have them display as symbols for drawing production purposes. Is there a way to do this? I have come from using Civil 3D and this can be achieved using Multi-View Blocks, i don't know whether there is anything similar in OpenRoads/Microstation?
Many Thanks
Joe
All my cells have this option off... Unless you talking about another option? I would think that if this is on, it would scale both placing by cell and civil points?
That is the setting. I wonder if there is a setting elsewhere in either the Feature Definitions or the Feature Symbology that would cause this? Does the Civil point's 3D cell properties show it as annotative? And does it scale with the drawing scale.
One other thing that might affect it: Our traditional seed files and cells and many other settings (from V8i and many earlier versions) used units, solid working area and resolution settings that are incompatible with the recommended CONNECT platform settings (more like required) which tend to create issues in ORD and MicroStation CONNECT. We are having to redo a lot of our files and rescale all of our cells to address these incompatibilities.
I would investigate this further if the Civil Point 3D cell properties show a scale factor of 1, do not react with changes to the drawing scale and do not look any different that the properties of the same cell placed normally. I looked at some cells placed both ways and initially thought i could not see any difference. (More on that in a moment). I thought maybe the true scale setting might be involved, but so far, I am not sure that could be a factor. There does not appear to be a property that reflects whether True scale was on or off during placement either.
Below are two cells in a top view. The top one is a civil point and its features is one of the delivered cable guard rail end treatment features. When placed as a point, the 2D cell looks identical but in 3D, certain components are all out of scale. I suspect these might be due to the solid working areas issue I mentioned above. I can't seem to drop the the point to a cell but the notched rectangle on the left top cell appears to be 10 times to large and I assume other solids may also be exhibiting this scale issue. This could be resolution and not solid working area, but I believe it proves my theory that the legacy settings are causing issues in CONNECT.
