I am trying to export a terrain model as a dtm. The actual export seems fine. When I open another file and create a terrain from file, there are less contour lines and they are not in the same locations as in the model. Also, the contour call outs are about 1/3 of what they should be. I have compared the model to the exported dtm and found a few things 1. If I turn on the triangle network on both files they look exactly the same other than the fact that the contours are in different locations 2. Both files are in FT when I look at the file settings 3. If I use the measure distance tool, both files measure the same distances. 4. The both files label the contours in FT units
In another file I imported the same dtm but this time I chose meters as the sources' units. This time everything looked correct including the contours.
Any information on how I could correct this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
From what you describe, it looks like there is a problem with the units you are using i.e. meters are correct. What units was the original data in? 'About 1/3' is suspiciously close to 0.3048 (feet to meters).
When the window came up after I hit import, from file. The drop down menu for the source file was in feet and it was grayed out.
