Loss of functionality after crashing Subsurface Utilities

Tonight I was setting up a small drainage design job in Subsurface Utilities (OpenSite Designer) when the software closed suddenly. Now I have a couple of problem while in

  1.  I can't see the dashed line showing the linkage between a catchment and the node it is connected to. The properties show the linkage exists, but I no longer see the graphical indicator
  2.  I can no longer select a catchment boundary and edit the vertex locations.

How can I get these functions back.

Details of what happened:
This is my first drainage project in OpenSite and I had place nodes and conduits and was in the process of adding catchment areas. I had added the first two catchments and attaching them to nodes. The crash occurred after adding the first few vertices in the third catchment.

The crash was silent (without error messages), closing OpenSite Designer completely. (like Thanos snapped his fingers)
When I started OpenSite Designer and the reopened the project, I got a message that Subsurface Utilities noticed a crash and there may have been some data loss.

I haven't noticed any data loss, just the loss of functionality above.

Your suggestion of clearing preferences folder makes sense.
I ran into this problem at home last night, and copied the project data out of Worksets and took it to my office this afternoon. On my work PC the project files did not exhibit the same problems.

I have a note to try clearing the preferences when I am back from leave in 2 weeks..
That way I don't forget that I did it if something looks funny when I get back.

I am making this answer as accepted

BTW. There is a lot of suff in prefs - do I delete the prefs folder or just delete all files in it? I gather the files are recreated.

  • Hello Andrew Brown,

Good to hear that your issue got resolved .

You can not loose any data by deleting or renaming prefs folder , Deleting Preferences will just clear your personal preferences related to your tools and file, also you can set it back to as it is in software. as well as deleting preferences will help your software form not getting slower. preferences folder gets updated as per the usage of your tools and related workflows. It is good practice to rename or clear prefs folder when you occurred to any crash.
