End Area vs Quantities Report By Named Boundary

Hi

What is the difference between End Area Volume calculation and Quantities Report By Named Boundary and what should I choose when calculating corridor volume?

I am using OpenRoads Designer version 10.07.03.18

  • They are two different methods for calculating earthwork.  The EAV using cross sections and uses the end area volume method for calculating quantities (average area between two cross sections).  The QRNB uses a volumetric approach which calculates the volume of 3d triangles.  This is much more accurate than the EAV approach.

You do need the 3d triangles for EAV since this method uses the cross section area of these shapes for its calculation.
