VERY SERIOUS BUG! - Template library corrupt after editing materials (Visualisation) - ORD 2019 R2 U7 (10.07.03.18)

What strikes me initially is that when the numerical seperator is a Point in Windows and in ORD, in the Material editor (3D model - Visualisation Ribbon - Material Editor - Pattern Map) the seperator is a comma. In MicroStation the comma - point problem doesn't appear (?).

After editing materials in ORD, the Template Library becomes Corrupt:

Good (before editing material in Material Editor)

Corrupt after editing material in Material Editor (Templates are flat)

Please fix this very serious bug. People can get serious problems when this happens.

  • Hi
We have the same experience in 10.08.00.88.

I can work in an ITL file and uses "." as decimal for all values and then just suddenly it will not accept ".". It just say Invalid input and wants a ",".

I have not saved the ITL file or close the Create Template dialogwhen working with it when it just suddenly get corrupted. I can have done something other outside OpenRoads/OpenRail Designer while it was open but I did not change the regional settings that is set to ".".

What I have done to save the file is saving the ITL file with another name. Closed the software. Edit the ITL file in Notepad. I can see in the file that there is a "," instead of ".". I change the "," to "." and save. Start ORD and the ITL works fine again. But today we tried that on a file that was suddenly corrupted but it did not correct the error.

It is very strange that it while working with the file it just starting to work with an "," instead of a "."

  • While I haven't tried it personally, there is a newer version of OpenRoads Designer - 10.08.01.33 - available now.

If the problem is still there, please file a Service Ticket if you are able. That's the best way to get bugs and defects documented by Bentley Support.

  • It’s still there.

Wel I hope the people of Bentley (and especially in this communities / group) understand if non-English speaking users bother to report a very very serious bug here, they should be very gratefull and are gonna fix that the same day. I hope they listen and don’t forward them a service ticket and do more effort.

That this bug is still present after all that time shows that Bentley doesn't seem to take the users of this community very seriously.

    Have a nice day.

  • Hi, I do not think that Bentley will fix it... It is just neccssary to keep this trouble in mind. It is also connected with alternate surface creation problem. if you will produce template with Win settings "," you will not be able to generate Alternate surface. You have to change Win settings to "." and  reedit itl file like exlcel file and chege separator to "." and that run Win with "." settings. Problem is with Win 10 which I found that Microsoft also **** non US users, because you will run Win 10 in some Europe distribution with settings "." but during some  Win 10 updata is settings checnged back to ",". So you have to do control manualy which settings are currently in use of Win 10...

You have to find way how to live with idiots

    Good luck
