border mark 1 could not be placed at specified location (AT PLAN AND PROFILE GENERATOR)

Bentley PowerCivil V8i (SELECTSeries 2)

SAYS "border mark 1 could not be placed at specified location (AT PLAN AND PROFILE GENERATOR OPTION)

it only draws the profile the plan it doesn't draw the host file and the seed host are both set but still it doesn't...

also i have two more problems but first I'll start with this...

  • Hi Muhoja,

Are you attaching your border as a reference file? If so, have you ensured that your Border and Host file have the same global origin and working units?

The host file is fine..what do you mean by having the same global origin and working units.

How do i attach the border as a reference file...please help if any.........?

And how do i create that border

If possible i can send you the host file and the crd and the rest of the files for further checking

  • If you don't have a border, that could be why you are getting the error that the border can't be placed.
You can probably find a generic border in one of the delivered example files.

You can find "Global origin" and "Working Units" in the Help - that may give you some of the information you need. I find the Help to be my first line of solution. It's far from perfect, but there is a lot of helpful information in there.

Please am in need of a border... any other border that i can edit.

or a tutorial that will help me make mine

  • A border is just a DGN file with the lines and text in it that you want to see around your sheet. It could be as simple as a rectangle, or it could get complex with images and charts and lots of formatted text.

If you want to make your own, you need a blank drawing file in the proper units (feet or meters, 2D is fine). From there, I would decide what your desired sheet size is - ANSI D, ISO A - What size sheet do you print?

To make a 1:1 border that can be scaled around (or not), draw a rectangle starting at 0,0 and going over and up to match your sheet size. For me, that would be over 34 units and up 22 units, because that's my desired paper size; I don't know what you use, so you'll have to get those numbers yourself. I usually place this rectangle on a level with the "plot" attribute turned off.

Now, switch to your "border" level and use the copy parallel tool to create your frame inside a margin. Inside that border frame, draw what you want to see for the title block, and place the text that needs to show up on every sheet. When you are finished, you have a border that you can reference into any sheet of your project.

If this is too complicated, we may not be able to help you. There are a lot of questions we can answer, but we are all working professionals. We don't have a lot of time to teach, and without strong CAD basics, OpenRoads is a pretty complicated package.
