Power Geopak-DTM Load

Hello and Happy New Year!!!

I am using Power Geopak v8i SS4.

I have a dtm file but my notes for how to import or convert this file to import are no longer applicable with the upgraded Geopak from SS2.  My notes refer to a Terrain menu item but I do not have this.  My issue is: I have a client supplied dtm file, I need to be able to import the tin and contours from this file but to Load DTM Features only gives tin, dat, and lattice file formatted input.  Can someone please help, I appreciate any thoughts or guidance you can provide on this topic.

  • Look in the Tasks tool list. I believe that under the Terrain task, you should be able to Import a DTM. It won't be in a menu anymore, but it is one of the available tasks.

  • Mary,

Thank you so much, your suggestion worked once I had time to look at the tools closely.  For the benefit of the other forum viewers, the workflow I found worked is this:  Tasks -> Terrain Model-> Terrain Model Create -> Create from File (first icon at top) -> selected dtm file -> filled-out options, selecting source coordinate system I believe is necessary to get results.  Of course I created a new 3d dgn file to work with for each surface, then I was able to save-as a dwg file, open in Civil 3d, exploded tin which is a block initially, then add to surface as a polyface feature type, traced outer edges to get a quick boundary, done.
