Some times when running ORD each window view begins to display a [Software Graphics] in the upper right corner, next to the model name (see below). What does this mean and does it effect performance in any way?
Hi Marc,

in general it means that for some reason MicroStation is not able to delegate graphics calculations to graphics card and its emulated by MicroStation itself.
When it can happen? There are more reasons, but it's often because the graphics card does not provide enough functionality in terms of DirectX version (only DirectX 11 is supported from power platform CE Update 13), there is not enough memory available, the card reports malfunction etc.

Yes, of course, because typically graphics card is able to handle all calculations and display much more faster than processor itself.

I recommend to read Marc Neely answer in this discussion about the latest enhancements of software graphics mode in power platform engine.
Regards,
Funny thing is that I need to use configuration variable to use directX 9 and not 11 - without this variable being set to 1, word/text processor is not working. For a moment I hoped it was resolved but apparently not.
I would like to take benefit of DX11 but I still need to be able to add some text to my drawings and models.
Do you have idea how to deal with this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Adam,
please do not steal the thread by another topic!

Because the discussion you linked is 2 years old and many things have changes (new Windows releases, video card drivers, MicroStation versions including DirectX support), I recommend to as again in a new post. It's crucial to specify what version of everything do you use.
Personally, I have seen this issue yet.
