Intresting vid on connecting OpenRoads to Plaxis2D.... but via dxf?
Hopefully, a more robust and automated interop workflow is on the way?
Reminds me of the recent functionality provided in OpenBuildings Station Designer to move plan cuts to an associated analytical package (Legion) using Mstn Dynamic Views.
Instead of plan cuts, I suppose that it would be section cuts in OpenRoads.
Slope stability etc would be something that would need to be checked along the alignment repeatedly, and automated synching between the OR design model and the Plaxis analytical model would be good to have, I imagine.
SVSLOPEHello Dominic,PLAXIS uses an open API, so creating something to create the geometry would be fairly easy once you have the cross section. We created a video to help user to deal with DXF import: https://communities.bentley.com/products/geotechnical1/w/wiki/45442/polycurves-to-polygons-in-plaxis-2d-using-pythonThis will at least solve the issue with the current import (only lines). However we are already working on precisely what you describe... the ability to check slope stability along the embankment at any point you want, rapidly. If the quick feedback you get prompts you to a deeper study, OpenRoads would be able to spit a cross section at that point that could be analyzed with SVSLOPE. I would appreciate if we could have a conversation about this privately so I can pick your brain on your current practice and needs to make sure we address them in the development of this feature.Thank you!
