Can I have different sheet sizes and or scales in the same dgnlib, or does each sheet size and scale need to be in its own sheet definition.dgnlib?

I am looking for information as to whether different sheet sizes like ANSI B, ANSI D and ARCH D can exist within the same sheet definition.dgnlib, or if all sheet sizes and scales need their own dgnlib.

Thanks,

Troy D

  • Mark,

I was able to create a DGN with all the sheets that we typically use, each in a different sheet model

I set them up at the paper sizes so that i do not have to create one for every conceivable scale

The from the drawing that I want to have the sheet in I go to the MODELS tap and create a new model and for type select "Sheet from Seed", browse to the DGN with the sheet models and then select the one I want

Once that is done it sets everything you did in the standard and now you have a new sheet

    Hope this file attaches

  • There may be some confusion here - I think Troy is asking about sheets and scales when creating plans, profiles, or cross sections when using Civil Name Boundary - whereas Brian is using a seed file to create a new (standard MicroStation) sheet model.

Troy - assuming that you are talking civil named boundaries, it is possible to have different sheet sizes in the same dgnlib, but it is not the way I would recommend. The scales can be changed when creating the drawing i.e. you do not need separate dgnlibs for every scale.
