Hello everyone,
please suggest how I can save my DGN in lower version in openroads designer.
DGN is prepared in 2020 release 1 and its not opening in 2019 release 2 so please suggest how I can covert it to it's lower version so it will also open in lower version of openroads designer.
Regards
Vishnu
I see that this thread is a bit stale, but I'm hoping that is due to a newly discovered work around or fix. I currently have a Topo file in version 10.09 but the client only works in 10.08. Is there anything that can be done to make this work?
If not, how does Bentley envision being able to work with this? As new updates come around to either fix broken tools or add missing tools, I will need to make a fresh installation to have 10.08 and 10.09 on my machine? Then selecting my project from the list, I will need to know which projects were created in which versions? Will each version require it's own workspace? Am I missing something?
Any sage advice is welcome!
Ken
In v10.9, you can save back to v10.8 or v10.7. File > Downgrade Civil Model
Thank goodness! Any caveats?
You won't be able to open it up to make sure everything came across correctly. Since we can only have one version of ORD installed at any time, there is no way to backcheck any downgraded files for design integrity.
This is just going to become a bigger problem as different clients settle on different versions.

I tested the "Downgrade Civil Model" - which is currently a "Technology Preview" in OpenRoads Designer - version 10.09.00.91This did not work for me (as described)
I opened a ticket with Bentley - and they were able to downgrade the Civil Model to 10.08.01 - and I can now open the DGN file in ORD 10.08.01.33 without issue/alert of newer Civil data
Bentley did not know why the "Downgrade Civil Model" did not work for me - and they were not sure when this would be upgraded from a Technology Preview to a permanent feature in ORD (assume when it works for everyone)
Still waiting to be able to install multiple versions of OpenRoads Designer on the same computer... but that does not address the nightmare with versions of files in the multiple workspaces
Hi David, out of curiosity, what happened when it didn't work for you?

The tool appears to work correctly.... no errors/no alerts... log file says data was converted
When I open the converted DGN file in ORD 10.08.01.33, it still says there is newer ORD10.09.00 Civil data in the file
