How to use multiple annotation groups for horizontal and vertical annotations?

Pleased to say that this is now in ORD 2021 R1

This method is the way that I have went, with the creation of levels for the various types of annotation, biggest drawback is that if you do not have all the different styles set-up initially and then go back and add one, when you open a different drawing set there is all of a sudden an additional annotation set that needs to be turned off on every sheet.  Or the first time you annotate an alignment the screen is flooded with multiple annotations.

So I would need a workset for each "type" of drawing in my plan set?

I can see that causing all sorts of confusion with users. And how does that work for Sheet indexing? I'm still wrapping my head around worksets and it seems like it gets more complicated the further I go.

    Let me start of by saying that this system is far from ideal, but it can be made, kicking and screaming to work.

    The WorkSet that the drawing that contains the annotation is in, can reference drawings that are in a different WorkSet.  Alignment A in WorkSet A referenced into Drawing B with Annotation for Construction.  Alignment A referenced into Drawing C in WorkSet B with Annotation for something else.  The problem with this method,is that your Feature Symbologies have to be different for the different WorkSets.  This is the problem with associating the annotation definition to the element and not being able to pick the annotation definition and then annotate the element as in SS2. 

   Personally, I have found that if you try to force ORD to behave the same way as SS2, you are going to have a lot of (grief) problems.  They are 2 different software platforms.  They don't behave the same, there are features in both that I like, but I am finding out that ORD is better in more instances.  There are still features missing in ORD, so I still go back and forth, but less as time goes on.

But I thought drawings were only supposed to belong to one workset?

And this doesn't help when the drawings all belong to the same project, but need to appear differently on different sheets, does it? that sounds like I would need a workset for plan-profiles, and one for layouts, and one for site plans, and one for structure elevations - all using the same profile or the same alignment, but requiring different annotation. I may just be confused, but that's what I am required to produce in some cases. And I don't like the idea of carrying around a half dozen copies of the profile drawing just to have different annotations. Especially if any adjustments to that annotation for readability will get thrown back to "default" any time the profile updates.
