What build of MicroStation is OpenRoads Designer built on?

How do you find what build of MicroStation OpenRoads Designer is built on?  If a bug gets fixed in the latest version of MicroStation how do i find out if that version of MicroStation is now the base program for OpenRoads Designer?

Found this article that explains the versions but not how the products are interrelated

https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/f/microstation-forum/92397/build-product-version-point-releases

Here are the latest version of the software that we use in our group and i want to know about

10.13.01.01         MicroStation CONNECT

10.08.00.88         OpenRoads Designer

10.06.00.15         Bentley Descartes

10.05.00.51         OpenCities Map

10.04.00.04         OpenUtilities CONNECT

  • Hi Brian,

unfortunately this is not standardized over Bentley products teams, even when it's e.g. for 3rd party developers extremely important information. Consequently, different products hold this information at different places :-(

In some cases, documentation can help:

    • As wrote, software compatibility is one source where you can check it.
    • In the case of civil products (not sure whether for all), you can check What's new in the release, an upgrade to newer platform is mentioned here.

OpenCities Map does not contain this information in documentation, but this wiki page exists (was created on behalf of this discussion ;-)  Unfortunately, as you can see, information for the latest OCM 10.05 has not been added yet.

But in my opinion the simplest way, not depending whether somebody do not forget to update a documentation, is to check directly the product dlls. Every installation contains ustation.dll (which is one from "power platform system dlls"). Check the File properties dialog, tab Details and Version info there (sorry for Czech localization ;-)

Of course even this information is not robust for 100%, because this information is added to the file when it is compiled. But power platform set is crucial, so we can expect when any power platform version is released internally, the version is set correctly.

    With regards,

      Jan
