Hi there.
Is there a way to import designs from one .dgndb to another, or to merge linework from one ConceptStation design into another? For instance, if I have two designers working in two different ConceptStation .dgndb files that have the same terrain (.3sm); one designer working on laying out mainline geometry, and the other designer working on a secondary roadway, is there not a way to import the design developed for the secondary roadway into the file with the mainline design?
Using the import tools on ConceptStation v. 10.00.11.32, it seems that only templates can be imported from one file to another.
Thanks,
Export xml from "file no1" to import in "File no2", import template trough Dgndb conceptstation from file 1 to file 2, redow the geometry and evrything.
Or you can use the different "Design scenario" in the latest Concepstation where you create a first scenario then create differente versions of it by using this.
Holly - thanks for the reply. This solution has a handful of issues. The imported information is static - meaning that it cannot be manipulated. The software does not see the imported roads as editable items. Also, since the software imports the information as a reference only, the existing terrain does not get clipped - so there are lots of places where you can't properly see the imported information. Lastly, the imported roadway comes in as white a yellow, which is really difficult to see (see screenshot below).
I am surprised that elements laid out in one ConceptStation file cannot be copied and used in another file. Is there a way to do this?
Ryan,
You could export the secondary roadway to a dgn, then import that dgn to the mainline geometry dgndb file. https://communities.bentley.com/products/road___site_design/w/road_and_site_design__wiki/27777/video-openroads-conceptstation---exporting-data-to-openroads
