Hi there,
I've created various 3d linestyles (as mesh objects)* and are trying to link them to my feature definitions so that they can show up in 3d once I apply my template drops. I've went through the whole process from:
but somehow these linestyles doesn't pull through in my 3d view.
*The reason for using mesh objects when creating 3d linestyles is when we drop the linestyles, the mesh objects can easily be consumed by other software, i.e. AutoCad, Navisworks, etc.
Here's some snapshot which could give some extra reference:
1. Snapshot (in ORD 2019 release 1) of two gaurdrails catering for both directions - The one selected is BARR-EZYG WBeam RHS
2. Snapshot illustrating my element template, feature symb and 3d line (in the 3d view) of BARR-EZYG WBeam RHS. Note that it just appears as a solid black line.
3. Snapshot illustrating my feature definition in the explorer and the feature def in the template
Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

1. Is the linestyle part of a dgnlib? Is the config variable 'MS_DGNLIBLIST_LINESTYLES' defined?
2. I think you should not use the 3D linestyle for the Profile symbology.
Thanks for the feedback, Mark.
On point 1:
I usually keep them as resource files and dump them into my workspace's line style folder. I've now removed the relevant resource file from that folder and imported the two barrier line styles directly into the dgnlib to see if that might solve the problem. Unfortunately not.
I don't have the 'MS_DGNLIBLIST_LINESTYLES' config var. defined at this stage. Is this something I should try or avoid?
On point 2
Agree, fixed that up to a 2d linestyle.
Thanks,
Ian
The variable MS_DGNLIBLIST_LINESTYLES is not necessary - it is just a way to be specific on what to look for (normally all files pointed to by MS_DGNLIBLIST are looked at). Similar to those in the screenshot * _LEVELS, *_TEXTSTYLES etc.
In the supplied metric workspace, there is a file 'Line Styles 3D Modeling.dgnlib' - it is pointed to by MS_DGNLIBLIST. Please check Settings > Configuration to see if the file/folder where your data is - is being pointed to.
Yes, my MS_DGNLIBLIST targets all the folders it should. Interesting to note that I can draw the line in Microstation SS4, but somehow it doesn't want to work in ORD (even if i import the barrier linestyles directly into the design file). This makes me wonder about the compatibility of this specific linestyle in ORD.
Snippet below indicating that it works in SS4 but not in ORD.
Would it be possible that you can perhaps have a look at my two RSC files? The one represents road studs (as mesh objects) which is working fine in both SS4 and ORD and then the barrier resource file (problematic one) which is only working in SS4. I'm attaching them.
