Hello, "UseSprialLength" and "UseRunoutLength" are seen as false in the superelevation reports (as in the following picture). ORD doesn't use those while calculating the superelevation distances ? If it doesn't, how can i change it to involve runout length and spiral length in calculations ?
UseSpiral Length - If true, then wherever a spiral exists, it will be used as the transition length rather than the calculated transition. In this case, the percentTransitionOnTangent value will be ignored. The default value is true.
I believe the 'UseRunoutLength=False' means that normal crown is attained sooner as it does not add on a runout length.
How can i change both "false" to "true" ?
So we can use only a fixed runout length ? ORD doesn't calculate it for each curve and apply it automaticly ?
ORD does calculate it - depending on the superelevation file used. In the UK rule file, it uses the full transition length - no runout.
i pick AASHTO method 5, it doesn't use runout length, either ?
I have never used AASHTO so cannot comment on that.
If UseSpiralLength is true and UseRunoutLength is false, ORD will extrapolate the runout length based on the runoff rate defined by the full super value at the SC/CS point and zero at the respective PS/ST point. The runout length will be calculated for each curve.
Although I haven't used it, I believe that if you set UseRunoutLength to true in the runout calculation will be ignored and the fixed length will be applied, though apparently not on a curve by curve basis. You might be able to achieve this using the equations.
