How to stop annotation text from updating?

Question

I am using OpenRoads Designer Connect edition and am attempting to create some plan-profile sheets. I used the named boundary tool to create plan and profile drawing models and then utilized "model annotation" to annotate the alignment and profile, however I then need to drag some labels around to remove conflict as well as edit some of the labels to remove part of the label that the client does not want on the sheets. It seems pretty random but the annotations will reset to the original position and contain all of the original information (undo my deletions). How can I stop this from happening? 
 
 I have tried setting the update fields automatically to false, however this caused my stationing on the alignment to start at 0+00, instead of the 50+00 that it is set to, and did not always keep it from happening. 
 I also tried dropping the cells several times so as to loose the smart features they contain, however several of the multi line annotations break down into unusable pieces. 
 Please help as this is incredibly frustrating.

 Maybe try adding MS_AUTO_UPDATE_FIELDS = FOLLOWMODELFLAG to your workspace configuration and theoretically you can control this by changing the "Update Fields Automatically" property in your model to avoid it automatically updating? 
 
 As long as you have this set to "True" in your seed file, it will otherwise work as normal unless you change it when you need to.

I came up with a workaround. Its not exactly a solution, but it does stop the annotation from automatically updating. 
 
 Profile Annotation Automatically Updating 
 Annotation comes back even after being deleted, moved, or modified in some way 
 This is happening in the PROFRD Drawing Models but may occur in any drawing model using automatic annotation using Annotation Groups and Definitions

Solution 
 First, Annotate the Drawing Models as usual 
 Next, determine which Feature Definitions are having the issue 
 For me, it was the Ditch Profile Right 
 
 I had previously deleted that vertical VPI label and added my own Label, but now its back

Go into the ALGNRD file where the alignments and profiles are drawn 
 Open Explorer and navigate to the Feature Symbology you need to edit

Right click and open Properties 
 Change the Annotation Group to None

Now go back to the PROFRD file 
 Figure out which Annotations you need to keep and make them static annotations 
 Text Annotations originally look like this: 
 
 Same applies for lines or shapes 
 They will all say Annotation Cell before what they actually are

We need to drop those down to their base element type such as Text, Line, Shape, etc.

Now double click the text and re-type the text so it's not based on the annotation anymore 
 This text can now be moved or modified freely and will remain even if Model or Element Annotation is removed.

Delete all other unwanted Annotations, no need to drop or anything else. 
 Now, since there is no Annotation Group assigned to that Feature Definition, it won't update and bring back all the excess annotation you just removed. 
 If you ever need to Annotate that Feature Definition again, just go and turn on the correct Annotation Group again in the ALGNRD file.
