I am using OpenRoads Designer Connect edition and am attempting to create some plan-profile sheets. I used the named boundary tool to create plan and profile drawing models and then utilized "model annotation" to annotate the alignment and profile, however I then need to drag some labels around to remove conflict as well as edit some of the labels to remove part of the label that the client does not want on the sheets. It seems pretty random but the annotations will reset to the original position and contain all of the original information (undo my deletions). How can I stop this from happening?
I have tried setting the update fields automatically to false, however this caused my stationing on the alignment to start at 0+00, instead of the 50+00 that it is set to, and did not always keep it from happening.
I also tried dropping the cells several times so as to loose the smart features they contain, however several of the multi line annotations break down into unusable pieces.
Please help as this is incredibly frustrating.
We have had this issue as well. The only solution we have found is to not use the annotations in plan/profile, and label things manually. It takes far less time to do this than to constantly fight the "automatic" annotations.
Hopefully the big brains at Bentley will give us the option to annotate once, then turn off automatic completely. Until then we will continue to do things manually.
Kevin, one thing I learned is to not have any of your annotations within the default model but to save and save settings on the default model. As opening a drawing that was last saved in one of the drawing or sheet spaces will sometimes override the "do not update" command when the drawing first opens. I agree, I look forward to having a more affective solution.
Most annotation functions do not work in the default model.
We've tried all the suggestions. Then we realized that trying to figure it out took more time than just manually labeling everything.
Time is money, and the most effective use of time with regard to this issue is to not use this function at all.
Perhaps one day that will change.
Hi Levi,
Maybe try adding MS_AUTO_UPDATE_FIELDS = FOLLOWMODELFLAG to your workspace configuration and theoretically you can control this by changing the "Update Fields Automatically" property in your model to avoid it automatically updating?
As long as you have this set to "True" in your seed file, it will otherwise work as normal unless you change it when you need to.
Regards,
Mark

On testing, the annotation (alignment in this case) still updates - i'd say this is a defect personally...
