First I'm prompted to select a path element. Then I'm prompted to select closed shapes that will be used to create named boundaries. So what's the purpose of the path element I just selected?

I don't see how the path element has anything to do with the custom boundaries that I create. I can place those anywhere I like. So why is the path element requested in the process?

Some plan productions require that plan sheets run along a different path than the main alignment. The plan drawing seed is designed to allow the software to place named boundaries with the proper dimensions along the horizontal alignment or along a different path element. If I'm creating irregular boundaries then what is the purpose of the drawing seed in this case?

Even with the default "Place Named Boundary Civil Plan" tool the software ignores the drawing seed length and sets the boundary length to a different size depending on the alignment geometry. This is inconsistent. The point in creating a drawing seed is that the named boundary needs to be exactly the same size. This is why I wrote this post:

The path element is whatever element along which the Named Boundaries will be created, but you can also choose a user-defined shape that you would want the Named Boundaries to adopt.
