ORD-Cross Section Bandwidth

Our current workflow is to show utility and drainage features that fall between stations on station ahead or back cross section depending on the station the feature actually exists at.  For example, On a set of cross sections at 50 foot interval, a projected utility or drainage feature at station 10+26, it would appear on cross section 10+50, or if it crossed at station 10+18, it would appear on cross section 10+00.

I've looked all around in ORD and can't seem to find anything similar to that.  In the previous versions, it was called Bandwidth under Cross Sections-->Update Cross Sections-->Projected Features.  There we could define a Bandwidth window so many feet ahead and back.

    Hi Charles 

    You can do this in ORD by selecting your Cross Section Named Boundaries and setting a Distance forward and/or backwards in the properties.

    Then navigate to the Drawing model using this Named Boundary, go to its 3d reference and toggle on Forwards and/or Backwards in the Presentation settings.

    A manual process, but you may be able to set these up as Sheet Seeds to have it automatically create this way.

    On thing to note is that it will "look" at everything forwards and/or backwards including your road, etc. So could get a bit messy. It may be as close as you can get to this functionality in ORD for now.

    Thanks Mark,  I see exactly what you mean. Definitely shows everything within that window including the pavement, etc..  Yeah, that's not going to cut it.

    Afternoon Charles,

    You and I are trying to accomplish the same thing I believe, essentially recreating the functionality found in InRoads when creating cross sections in the new ORD environment.

    This was my train of thought of how to get this to work, till I discovered there is a defect in the display rules for ORD [Defect 1122060:Display Rules: Cell is getting processed for rule "ïs not Cell"]

    1. Create cross sections normally in ORD, but...
    2. Produce two sets of drawing models for each cross section
      1. One set has the "Bandwidth" set to zero which displays everything lying on that Station
      2. Second set has the "Bandwidth" set to what you would normally set in InRoads (say to the midpoint between cross sections, so if cross sections are set for every 50', set the bandwidth to -25' and +25' on every Station
    3. Now you have two "Drawing" Models for every cross section but change the Display Styles for each
      1. Change Display Style of the Drawing Model with the Bandwidth set to zero to show everything 
      2. Change Display Style of the Drawing Model with the Bandwidth set to something ahead and something back to show only Cells
    4. Then Reference these two models superimposed over one another in the Sheet Model of this section.

    Unfortunately I have NO Idea if this is even feasible, because of the "is not Cell" Display Rule bug. 

    I haven't been able to try it and watch my idea bomb magnificently, but I think is sounds good or is it just me?

    Anyone tried this with different Display Style and or Display Rule settings?   Please Let Me Know.
