Hi there,
I am looking for some advice or methods to help solve the below problem, it is for a rail project therefore using OpenRail (not OpenRaods) however I am hoping people may have encountered a similar issue when designing in OpenRoads.
Aim: Want to clip the alignment corridor against retaining walls, where the retaining walls are references or imports in a mesh or 3D solid format. Is it possible to clip the corridor to the location where the wall intersects the track structure corridor?
Possible solution: Have tried creating an end condition in the template, which worked if the wall is converted to a terrain and then read the end condition to the terrain. But the wall can only be converted if a slope is present, which is not always the case. Therefore is it possible to have an end condition which reads to the object?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Lara
Add objects to target (your meshes) as corridor reference and then use Target Aliasing tool. Also you can clip your corridor with 3D meshes (use corridor clipping reference).

Your retaining wall is probably not a civil mesh. It means that you have to copy the solid/mesh into a DGN. If it is a solid, you must convert to a mesh (3D Modeling, Mesh).
Then add a feature definition to the mesh. You can now target the mesh or use it as target aliasing.
It is also the typical workflow if you receive structures, bridges as ifc
Hi JP, Thank you for the suggestion that is helpful, however I am having some issues adding a feature definition to a mesh. Can you please provide some guidance on that? Have tried:
- In the properties "Template"
- Converting it to a terrain and then a selecting a feature definition (which works but feels like a bit of a work around).
