Is ORD 2020 R3 compatible with 2020 R1/R2?
Or has there been a design schema change which would require updating all older projects and resources?
I would like to take advantage of the new bug fixes, added tools and other upgrades, but I do not want to update if my older data will no longer function. I have been using the workspace files from my DOT (early preview that they are) and I do not want to update the software if I will no longer be able to use those files. If R3 IS backward compatible, I look forward to giving it a test drive.
Thank you.MaryB
Yes, there is a schema change from 10.08 to 10.09. The tool to use to take the file back to an older schema is File>Downgrade Civil Model.
So, I cannot use this on any projects already begun, correct? That suggests I cannot use it on anything to be shared in 10.08 without downgrading it, then upgrading it for revisions, then downgrading it again, ad nauseum... What will be lost if we "Downgrade Civil Model"?
Will the resource files developed by my DOT even work in 10.09 if they were developed for 10.08?How much upgrading will have to happen?
Plenty of us are bound to certain versions by our clients and partners. We are not all in control of "navigating new schema" and so will miss out on the "benefits of the new features".
Can we install this in parallel with older versions yet?How do you suggest we manage these different schema as we navigate different clients and partners - who may all be running different versions?

Did you ever get a response to the running parallel versions ORD R2/R3 on same machine? I assuming we will be client/partner bound and need to stay in 10.08 vs 10.09? I should have asked this at yesterday's enhancement overview presentation.
