I am still new to Openroads software , I was trying to find out what is the way to show the Profile Annotation such as (Curve,K Values,Grades..etc). From what I understood that I should use Place Named Boundary but everytime but the create

RE: OpenRoads - Profile Annotation

I could not agree more. Especially since the software already knows the K value, Begin and End curve Stations, Length, etc. It is absurd that this information cannot be displayed/viewed as a default setting when the Profile view is created. If you polled 100 real-world designers/users, I would be surprised if even one single vote would be in favor of the requirement that users have to create, view, and annotate another separate model just to see the Vertical Design data. So frustrating for new users like myself....

RE: OpenRoads - Profile Annotation

I did it in a new file and started from beginning , I am not sure if I missed any steps or any files is missing

RE: OpenRoads - Profile Annotation

Have you deleted anything since you created the Named Boundary?
Check what Named Boundaries you have already created. Open the Named Boundary dialog as shown in the image - NBs will be listed in green boxed area. If there are NBs there, the icons on the top will be activated - and you can create your drawing.

The ability to see design information from a glance at the screen is an important design "cue". Very helpful to be able to add annotation to mark point/feature information I might like to recall, or even to share my screen with the engineer to get his opinion on some design decisions. The requirement to take all the extra steps to create the "drawing model", just to SEE design information is extra work, not intuitive, and not very helpful.

RE: OpenRoads - Profile Annotation

You need to creates the Named Boundary to create the Drawing Model, which is where the annotation is created. You do not annotate the profile model where you create the vertical geometry.

The videos on the wiki page should show the process. For example, create profile sheet with framed annotation.

RE: OpenRoads - Profile Annotation

Thanks for your reply.

So based on this , to display the annotation no need do place named boundary.

But when I do Element Annotation/Model Annotation for the profile no annotation is shown in the profile.

RE: OpenRoads - Profile Annotation

Place Named Boundary defines what you are putting on the drawing i.e. what area/chainage limits. It does not define the annotation.

Taking the feature definition 'Geom_Baseline' as an example, it uses 'Feature Symbology > Profile > Geom_Baseline' to set the annotation group to 'Profile Annotation' - this group annotates the grades etc.
