Currently I am able to attach the Bing Maps background to my file . The issue is I want to be able to clip, edit (contrast and brightness), and ultimately print the background map with my design overlayed. Is there a way to clip the bing maps, or perhaps easily import it as a raster image?
Hi Scott
The only way I know of clipping Bing Maps imagery is to create a new dgn with Bing Maps turned on, referencing that dgn into your design dgn, and then clipping the new Bing Maps reference.
The Bing Maps imagery is treated as a raster by the printer configuration, so you can control the brightness, quality, and contrast in the print dialog (Settings -> Raster Options). This has the unfortunate side-effect of applying to all raster images though.
If you find a way of bringing Bing Maps as an editable raster image, I'd also like to know.
Thank you for a response Warren. Issue is when I attach the aerial map to a reference, it does not come through on the model that I referenced it on. I have the the same geographic coordinate system attached to both. Is there an option I should be choosing when I attach the reference?
There is an option to include rasters in live nesting, but i'm unsure if it works for Bing maps.

I do have that option checked, but I don't think its recognizing the background view as a raster. I guess I'm trying to replace what I would normally do as a raster image. I would in the past bring in the aerial image as a raster in its own .dgn then reference as needed. Some clients require an aerial image at a specified contrast/brightness. Was hoping to find a way to use this function to decrease .dgns and image sizes.
