Currently I am able to attach the Bing Maps background to my file . The issue is I want to be able to clip, edit (contrast and brightness), and ultimately print the background map with my design overlayed. Is there a way to clip the bing maps, or perhaps easily import it as a raster image?
Hi Scott, it's been a while since your question, but I'm putting the answer to this issue in this tread, in case anyone else came across the same question. I'm using OpenRail, which is similar to the OpenRoad:
After adjusting the Coordinate System, go to Home>Primary>Attach Tools>Raster Manager
in Raster Manager, on the top left go to File>Attach>Bing Maps... here you can change the layer you want to be displayed, contrast, etc. then select "Attach". Now Bing Map is acting like any other Raster in your design file. When you plot your drawing it should show up on the paper like any other raster.
Of course you can use "Clip" or "Mask" commands to pick the area of this background around your design and adjust it to fit your plot sheet.
Hope it helps.
Sina, I followed your steps and am able to get the aerial map to show in my sheets created through Named Boundaries. However, when I try to print to a PDF, the aerial doesn't print. Is there another step that I am missing?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris - You may want to verify that you've placed it on a level that will plot and the Class is set to Primary (not Construction).

That was my problem, it was coming in on a Construction level. Thanks Eddie!
Hi Sina, I am also running into the same issue where I "am" able to attach Bing maps to my background using the correct Geographic Coordindinate System but not able to print the Bing image using renditions. Is there a certain variable that needs to be added to the workspace in order for it to work with renditions? The Bing image did print when I used the default PDF driver. Also, I am not able to clip the boundary of the image most likely because I keep getting the message "Raster Image is currently Reprojected"?
Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thank you,
Dennis
