Drainage and Utilities (SUDA) Material Libraries Location

Is it possible to point ORD Drainage and Utilities to a network location for the Engineering Libraries?  I would like to add some additional materials, add/modify inlet types, rainfall data, etc.  I can see they all point to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\SUDA\Libraries\.

This seems like it should be simple.  I hope I am just missing something obvious.

  • Hello Josh,

Since I have knowledge of the OpenFlows products, I may be able to assist here, though I do not have knowledge of configuration variables.

When creating an engineering library (XML file) you can place it anywhere you want, so in theory you could place it on a network shared folder where other users could access and add to their own Engineering Libraries. This is what I believe the help topic "Sharing Engineering Libraries On a Network"  is trying to say. See this article for information on how to add a new engineering library XML file (though keep in mind that this article was written for the OpenFlows products) When the new XML file is created, it is “registered” in a special engineering library database in the user profile, so that when the user opens another project in ORD, it will already be mapped so that information can be pulled from that library if desired.

Another option may be to import the desired library objects into the individual libraries (like the conduit catalog, inlet catalog, etc), along with other standards like custom Flextables, etc, and save that as a seed file  / template project. Then when you want to start a new project, you would start from that seed (see bottom of this article for some potential clues on these “Seed files”)
