How to set up a PowerSurvey template/library?

I am a new user to Microstation, I work for a land surveying firm and we recently got MS PowerSurvey V8i (SelectSeries10). I am wondering on how to set up my company's own personal template (Layers, Lineweights, Codes, Figures, creating new linetypes). I'm also struggling to understand MS file types and what they're used for. I have watched the training videos that came with the PowerSurvey purchase but they focus on drafting and not file management. Any help is appreciated, if anyone has a video or literature on the matter that would also be beneficial.

  • If you are new to PowerSurvey it would be much better to install and use OpenSite Designer instead of PowerSurvey SS10. With PowerSurvey you will have double work to set up templates in dgnlib and then same templates in PowerSurvey XIN file. OpenSite has different approach and Survey templates uses the same linked templates from DGNLIB. Also OpenSite supports latest DWG formats.

Actually it is possible in PowerSurvey SS4/SS10 to create same civil standards as in OpenSite so you should use that so it is compatible when upgrading.
