This isn't related to OpenRoads. The survey firm I work for recently got Microstation PowerSurvey V8i (SelectSeries10), I am trying to understand how LIB files work with the software and how it integrates into the company's custom template that I am trying to develop (preset layers, lineweights, linetypes, etc.). I am also trying to understand how points (nodes in AutoCAD) are imported and how to create codes for survey figures and their properties. If their is any literature on LIBs and how their created I would love to see it. Thanks
The following may be a good start for dgn libraries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb1mG0h0qGc
A DGNLIB is basically a DGN FIle, as in, you can create one by creating a regular DGN file from your normal seed file and just give it a DGNLIB extension.
DGNLIBs can hold a lot of data that you want to standardize over your organization. I prefer to break them up into
LevelsText and dimension stylesCivil Features (These can also be broken out to Terrain, Drainage, Roadway, etc.)Interface
The DGNLIB file can be added (with path) to the MS_DGNLIBLIST configuration variable (which accepts multiple values). At that point, it will show up in the background, ready to use, every time you open your software using that configuration. It's a great way to push out your standard levels and other settings to everybody else as part of your workspace.
Linestyles can be saved into DGNLIB files, but they can't be edited there. At this point, I am still using RSC files for my linestyles. Those can be included in a workspace through the MS_SYMBRSRC configuration variable.
There is more in the Help file, and Mark's video is a nice introduction.

Ss10 is a hybrid platform. It uses some portions of a "Native" platform and some portions of its own - Open Roads.
Survey, in particular, requires a link to a native style file in addition to element templates stored in a DGNLIB. And, Ss10 also permits processing surveys in the Native program or in the Open Roads portion of the program. I used to work with users of PowerSurvey, but it originally was offered in two versions - A GEOPAK and an InRoads version. Depending upon if that is still the case, you need the correct Native style file to contain certain settings for survey.
