I recently had ProjectWise Installed for use with one client. I have been using SS4, and am trying to make the migration to Connect for that Client

RE: After Installing ProjectWise, cannot access Descriptor file XIN within SS4

Yes, this was the solution. Bentley Support did finally get back to me and came to the same conclusion. Seems this should be a big red flag for people.

RE: After Installing ProjectWise, cannot access Descriptor file XIN within SS4

When upgrading Projectwise, did you have to go through and update your Windows OS as well?

Windows stopped supporting an MSXML we required with the InRoads program in order to read XML files. Starting around InRoads 08.11.09.878+, we had to remove the unsupported file from our installation, so users who installed a newer program on a Windows 10 OS do not have this file but it is needed.

Check out this article for a little more detail on the problem and and the solution which is to download the MSXML4.DLL. This should then allow InRoads to read the XML data (XIN File).
