I am new to ORD and have a very large Terrain model for a multi-mile freeway project. What is the best way to break the Terrain down into smaller Zones of the project?
Is there a way to copy a portion of an existing Terrain by Fence?, Or to copy the whole large one and delete everything outside a fence or element? I am open to any suggestions and would really appreciate the advice from more experienced users.
Thanks,
Michael
Using release 10.09.00.91 if it matters
Hi Michael,
Try the Clipped Terrain tool. You can break the terrain into smaller parts using shape elements, but keep a dynamic link to the original, so they all update if the "master" changes.

Thanks Mark - I found the tool and followed the prompts. Fairly simple. Not sure about the Dynamic link to the original terrain, but hopefully it will be a non-issue going forward. Have a good weekend, Michael
Hey Mark, I noticed in previous versions of OpenRoads (selectseries) keeping a clipped terrain as linked would still process the entire terrain when processing a corridor. We've had rather large surfaces (over 30mb) and seemed to process faster (and reduce file sizes) without the link to the main terrain. I'm guessing due to the dgn having it still attached or retained in the explorer. Have you noticed the same in ORD and/or experienced the same in SS?
