Profile from Corridor Element tool

I've been looking for this tool and cannot recall where it is. Isn't there a tool where you can begin your profile and you snap to a corridor element as the starting point? I think specifically of creating a drive C/L alignment and then creating the profile grade for it. I want to begin the profile grade at the EOP of my mainline so that if my mainline goes up or down, so does that begin point of the drive profile. I know I've seen this and I've been searching for the terminology to net some results, but not coming up with anything.

Any help is appreciated before I slowly unravel trying to think of it!

  • Mark, I believe this is what I'm looking for. In fact, I tried this earlier and it crashed, so I wasn't sure I was using it for it's intended purpose. But looking at videos of this tool, I think this is it.

    Which leads me into, why is it crashing? I am in a 2D alignment file where I have the drive alignment drawn. I have referenced in my 3D corridor file that shows the 3D EOP I want to target. I can begin using that tool, and when I accidentally clicked on the 2D plan view version of the EOP, that point showed up correctly in the profile view, albeit at elevation 0. When I tried again selecting the 3D element from the reference file, it locks up and eventually crashes. Any idea why? I'm trying to figure out if there is something I'm doing with the workflow the the tool disagrees with.

  • I have never selected anything from the 3D model - I always use the 2D model which, as you did above, is the way it is meant to work (I think). Your corridor reference should be the 2D model, and the point should be at the correct z value. (If it is crashing with the 3D model, don't use the 3D model - and log a service request.)



  • It looks like it might be due to the EOS line that I want to create the point from doesn't have an active profile. My EOP does and I can create the point from it. Not sure why the EOS isn't getting the Active Profile by Template as it appears to be defined in the same manner as the EOP.
