I'm a long time InRoads user and in design often use the Trickle Command to see if things are flowing correctly and to verify my ditching is working. Is there an equivalent command in OpenRoads? I've been trying to use the analyse a point on my

RE: Trickle Command Equivalent in ORD

Yes, it does require a terrain model. It's unfortunate that it does not work with the corridor meshes. However, it's not difficult or time-consuming to create a TM from a corridor using From Graphic Filter or From Elements. Also, to use the Analyze Trace Slope tool the way you want, set Trace Method to Maximum Slope Trace, with Trace Slope Direction set to Down. You then place a data point where you want the trace to start and it will then create a "trickle" line to the low point. The tool will create a 3D line in the 3D model, so make sure you have the TM set active if it is referenced, and display of the 3D model turned on in your plan view if you want to see it there.

RE: Trickle Command Equivalent in ORD

True but I still don't see a tool that does that even for a terrain model.

RE: Trickle Command Equivalent in ORD

You needed a DTM in InRoads for the Trickle command. An Open Roads/MicroStation Terrain is essentially a DTM but is simply stored directly in the DGN file.

RE: Trickle Command Equivalent in ORD

No that tool seems tailored towards an already created surface and I'd like to analyse my corridor before a surface is created. It also seems to only let me enter a slope and trace that slope onto the surface. I'm looking for what the trickle command could do which is to show how water would flow and where the low spot would be.

RE: Trickle Command Equivalent in ORD

Does the 'Analyse Trace Slope' tool do what you want?
