We have been trying to delete triangles from the edges of a proposed terrain. We remove the rules from the terrain, making it editable. However, the delete triangle tool seems to work only infrequently. At times, we have seen it delete triangles as expected. However, most of the time we are unable to remove any triangles using this method. When looking at the 3D view, it is almost as if the line drawn by the "delete by line" tool goes underneath the proposed terrain, thereby missing the triangles. We have tried multiple view rotations but to no avail. Is there a solution that we are missing?
I'm not sure what the issue is here, however, you might try clicking on the boundary and modifying the edge method to max triangle length or adding an exterior boundary.

Thanks for your reply Marcus. We had tried to use the Max Triangle Length method, which restricted some of the triangles from being created, but it didn't address all of the triangles that we needed to remove. We have had some success with removing the triangles by adding an exterior boundary (as long as the boundary is drawn as a closed shape.) That seems to be the only workaround that we are aware of at this time. Unfortunately the Delete Triangle tool doesn't seem to be as functional as it was in SS2 or Power Inroads. If you have any suggestions on what might help us better use the Delete Triangle tool we would really appreciate it.
Hi Chris,
You need to deactivate the rules of the Terrain to make manual edits. Just be aware that the Terrain will lose the edits when it dynamically updates if you reactivate the rules later, unless you create a boundary to keep it that way.
