Why Does Isolate not work for points in OpenRoads Model

We have points setup for Construction staking.  Points fall under different feature definitions.  We want to right click and isolate all points and run report to produce ascii file to be uploaded into data collector for field staking.  When I right click on points "Isolate" is an option but it doesn't work.  Also, if I were to try and highlight all of my features and then right click "Isolate" is an option but doesn't work.  The only way my user can do this currently, that I'm aware of, is to expand all the features and then select the first one and shift and go to the end and select the last one.  It seems like since the tool is on the right click menu that I should be able to right click on points and select "Isolate" and then pick my report tool and be done.  Am I missing something in the steps?  Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Have the points been drawn into your drawing, or are they survey "decorator points"? That could be part of the problem. Also, why do you need to isolate the points? Can you try to generate a report for "points only"?

You can search this board for information on writing survey points into your drawing.

  • MaryB, yes the points have been drawn into the file using the Geometry tools.  I would like to generate a report for "points only" but only know how to do that if I select all the points.  Is there another way to select all the points without using the isolate tool?  My user doesn't want to be required to turn off all level except points in order to select them.  The work around I have found so far is to create a key-in command and make a custom tool where when he selects the tool it will select all the points on the levels.

But I still don't understand why I can't right click on this item and isolate all points with feature BCX if isolate is available on the right click menu.  Better yet why can't it just be as easy as right clicking on Points where isolate is also available and isolate all....that seems where simpler for the end user.  Would be nice to select BCX and CCX and only isolate those two features.  I have yet to find a work around for doing something that should be real quick and easy.

I am open for any suggestions.
