Hi
I am new to OpenRoads and I got 2 questions:
1- I was trying to Export an OpenRoads file to IFC, I managed to open the IFC file in Solibri but not in Navisworks 2020.
Is there any workflow that I need to follow to open the IFC in Navisworks?for example: using AecoSim to do the IFC export ?
2- the IFC export that I opened in Solibri doesn't seem to be in the right geolocation.
Is there a certain way to export to IFC and to have it in the right geolocation?
Thanks
Saad
Hi Saad,
This seems to be a bug in Solibri with IFC 4s that dont have the origin at 0,0. Are you using the latest Solibri version?

Hey Mark,Yes, I am using the latest Solibri version.I got other IFC files that were exported from 12D and they are located in the right geolocation in Solibri.. the OpenRoads IFC files are the one having the issue
Have you tried turning off Revit IFC in Navisworks

I suspect it may be due to ORD IFCs not having their origin at 0,0. I know 12d does by default. Have you contacted Solibri support to see if the issue is Solibri or ORD? Using BIMVision and BIMcollabZOOM it is in the right spot.
Navisworks on the other hand will give you distorted geometry on the other hand for similar reasons and/or lack of support for the IFC 4.02 IFC object type it uses for Meshes.
We've given up and use iTwin to downgrade to IFC 2x3 for these products.
Hey Saad,
If you upgrade to Navisworks 2021, under options there is a Beta DGN importer that does a pretty decent job converting Openroads files into solids. I have used this option before mainly for corridors and it seemed to work well.
I believe this was a new “feature” Autodesk made possible with 2021, but I could be wrong.
