Erasing .dpf within Vista

Hello,

I' have a short question. How can I erase a .DPF file within Microsoft Vista?  I think it is more a Windows problem, because if I rename a txt file to .dpf, I even cannot erase that file.

Only a restart will sometime work.

With regards

  • Hello Gunther,

Are you trying to create and then delete a .dpf in the same project directory that you cannot erase your existing .dpf?

Are you able to create and then delete a .dpf in a new folder by renaming a .txt file? We have tested here and can delete .dpfs in an MX project directory and outside.

We are currently investigating another case in Vista, with MX V8i, where for 1 customer after a crash in MX the .dpf in that project cannot be deleted. I am wondering if you are experienceing the same thing.

Please feel free to email me at jim.irvine@bentley.com and we can discuss this issue further.

     Best regards,

    Hello Jim/Gunther

I have been experiencing this in Vista as well. Using a network project on the local drive I also tried to rename a .txt as a .dpf and also found I could not delete it.

  • Hello Mike,

We cannot recreate the issue here, probably because we cannott recreate the crash that is seemingly causing this issue. For Gunther, renaming a registry entry for the file association fixed the problem, (feel free to contact me and I can talk you through that) but I suspect if the same type of crash happens again the file association in Vista will be corrupted again. Hopefully when we have your machine here we can make further progress with this.

    Regards,

    Jim
