We used to create profile reports with XYZs of the PIs and then comparing it after complex redefine and XYZs along the portions that were not changed in plan didn't change. As you said, I would attribute profile shifts to the snaps.

Hi Babulal, Export the vertical alignment as text file with Northing and Easting. After modifying the horizontal alignment import the vertical alignment from "Import Vertical Geometry From Ascii file".

Totally agree that's the way I do it as well and it works very well. For the MX guys above complex redefine is similar to the MX swap link. I also think that the profile shift we see has something to do with snapping to the existing ground surface which then with persist snap on creates the rule which the profile will then need to solve. So I tend to only to create the rule at the start of end of my alignment and where ever possible do not create a rule in between.

Ive used complex redefine for any amendments to the horizontal, this maintains the current vertical alignment (you will need to ensure you use a curve from / straight from at both tie in points from your redefining alignment to your current alignment) you may get some chainage slip on the vertical. I have used the transform tool (geometry tab) to slide the vertical to match the station slip. This has worked great. Like you, used this on a 10km project

Hi Babulal,
I had a similar situation, where I needed to amend my horizontal alignment in ORD and to do that, I had to drop complex on my horizontal alignment. As soon as I dropped complex, I lost the entire vertical alignment. Agree, in MX you could change / delete your horizontal without losing entire vertical and this is so annoying. I raised this and didnt get a satisfactory answer

You are correct. Unchanged parts should remain unchanged in profile as well. Unfortunately OpenRoads still has issue managing this especially if it means it has to cut some elements. I would suggest to create Service Request to add your account to the enhancement request.
