The advantages to 2D models for design is that we don't have to worry about random Z values accidentally slipping into our design (among other things) Drafting in 3D is exponentially more complex than drafting in 2D, and there would be far more to keep track of when layout out our geometry. This way, we handle the 2D layout, and work through the software to design the 3D aspects.
The Proposed Design Terrain is the model of what my construction will be. It includes not only the top surface, but pavement depths, grading, undercuts, benching, etc.
A "Delta" terrain is a terrain that is the "space between" any two terrains, such as the space between the bottom of my constructed project and the existing ground.

Thank you, Mary.
1. May I say that the Delta terrain contours could show the thickness between two surfaces?
2. I often used "set slope along feature" tool in InRoads before. What is the similar tool in ORD please?

Frank
That's another question, so it might be better to start another thread, in case people don't read this one.
I don't know the answer. We are still working to get ORD up and running; none of our major clients use it. I do believe that you can create a profile for any feature in your drawings, but I can't say if that's the actual replacement.
