Sight distance checks to incorporate 3D line styles

Hi all,

Using the sight distance check tool in ORD 2020 R3 - is there a way to also incorporate any 3D line styles that we have created for barriers?. My initial thought would be to potentially add in a stroke pattern at the 0,0 origin of the 3D line style, a 2nd point 0.100,0.800, and a 3rd point 0.200, 0 within the 3D line string . (these points reflex the dims of a FGF with a 200mm system width)… Are there any other ideas or work arounds to get these 3d line style more useful for design check

  • Mark - the limitation of the way SSD tool work is that it allows to pick only one design surface so when you model barriers as separate corridors, you need to combine them with the proposed road surface. I would like to see SSD tool honoring all meshes that are in Default-3D model.

John - we model barriers as separate corridors rather than part of the road tempplate. Our barrier template contains a component for the working width which is used for clash detection but also to create the top mesh out of barrier corridor. Then, we combine the road top mesh and the barrier top mesh using the microstation stitch mesh tool and that forms the combined surface we use to run SSD. Hope it helps.
