[OpenRoads] Feature Definitions library crashes

Hi everyone,

I've recently encountered an issue with the feature definitions library, and some questions regarding working with .dgnlibs in ORD have come up.

  1. The first crash in the library happened once I removed an annotation definition from an annotation group below. ORD crashed, but the annotation definition is gone as intended. I suppose it isn't a regular behavior. How can I avoid these crashes or, maybe, what could I change in our library to prevent it from crashing?

2. I've run today civil display browser on the same one .dgnlib, and the result is an endless list of reddish issues. It scares me to think that this library is damaged for good. Can anyone relate to this issue? Is it normal behavior for .dgnlibs?

  • Now my questions:
    • Is it better to keep .dgnlibs for feature definitions, feature symbology, annotation definitions separate?
    • If the aforementioned .dgnlib is broken, is there a way to fix this? Could I, for example, open a new .dgnlib and import all feature definitions from the bad one and then replace the file? Is there any risk involved?

I know this is a complex issue, but many projects are involved, and all of them are based on this .dgnlib.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Regards

  • If you want to export and reimport into a new file, you need to make sure the Element Templates (ET) are available along with the FD and FS. We keep all FD, FS and ET in the same dgnlib. We do have a survey dgnlib with survey specific items, and a SUE dgnlib. But if an FD or FS points at an ET, then we keep that ET in the dgnlib as well, even if it is a duplicate of what is in another dgnlib.

I rely heavily on the migration utilities to review and organize all of these.
