Hi Everyone,
I am currently trying to export my cross sections from open roads designer to DWG auto cad format.
However no matter what setting I try on my export the DWG files seem to contain the 3D model (as shown) I have tried disabling 3D settings within the References Tab within the export utility with no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Chris,
Make sure this setting is enabled in your DWG export options.

Hi Mark,
Thanks a lot, It helped me. I was struggling since last two days to get clean cross section drawing from ORD to ACAD. After reading your note, I give check mark to "Merge Visible Edges of 3D attachments" then I got clean drawings from ORD to ACAD.

Just a warning - we stopped using this variable because some users were getting messed up models when they used the "Save As" command to save an ORD DGN to another file. I'm pleased to say that we have little issues exporting sections to DWG these days. As of 2022 R1 the export speed is exponentially faster as well.
We have been using the EXPAND SET command to define Variables on an as needed basis. The syntax is:
EXPAND SET <existing_configuration_variable> = <configuration_variable_value>.
For example, we have a series of variables that are subsets of the MS_CELLLIST folders, organized by offices.
Our common cells are in a \variable named _MDOT_CELLLIST. Our Office of Traffic and Safety (OOTS) have their cells in a variable named _MDOT_CELLLIST_OOTS which points first at the cell library folder and then at the _MDOT_CELLLIST variable. When we want to have their cells in MS_CELLLIST, our tools use the key in
expand set MS_CELLLIST = $(_MDOT_CELLLIST_OOTS)
Elsewhere, when we want to reset MS_CELLLIST to our default, we use
expand set MS_CELLLIST = $(_MDOT_CELLLIST)
This prevents MS_CELLLIST from growing and growing as additional paths re added to it.
To clear a value, you need an extra space following the =
However, this does not undefine the variable and I do not know if that variable works as long as it is defined or only if it is equal to 1.

Hi Mark
Even after , I give check mark to "Merge Visible Edges of 3D attachments" , I am not getting clean cross section drawings in Autocad from ORD. It shows hapazard lines on the cross section.
is there any setting I may be missing.
I have attched Three snips:
1. While exporting , I was only selecting the sheet models to export with out selecting Drawing model, this may be the reason , I was not getting clean drawings in Autocad
2. This time , I tried to export selecting all Drawing Models and Sheet model , with check mark to "Merge Visible Edges of 3D attachments". Fortunately I got clean drawings in Autocad.
Also it's good practice to verify that the "Clip Volume" toggle is on in View Attributes. Both in Drawing and Sheet models. We've had several users complain about similar issues only to discover that the toggle was off.
