Hello,
In the Connect Edition we have the DGNWS file which is where the sheet index information is stored. That sheet index has folders for all disciplines sheets, so all disciplines sheeting information will be stored in that single DGNWS file as part of the cadd deliverable. Since different consultants/companies work on different disciplines for a single project, their files will be stored in their own respective repositories (separate DGNWS files). Since the cadd deliverable will be a single DGNWS file, those different companies DGNWS files will need to be merged I assume? Is there a documented workflow for how to do this? What has everyone else been doing in this scenario?
Thanks!
Steve:
I have no idea- and have seen no documentation- on how this endeavor could be accomplished. I will be following this thread intently to see if others have any ideas/ solutions here!
Best Regards,
Mark
I don't think there is a way of merging 2 DGNWS. It means that someone must create the index structure for the external and add the sheets in the good folder.
This is a big deal if true. That means that any subs or outside disciplines will have to send the prime consultant their files, and it will be up to the prime to add them manually to the master dgnws deliverable file. Also, the prime will not receive files until right before a submittal deadline which will leave them little to no time to perform that laborious manual process.

No, this functionality does not exist.
What you're really asking for is for Import/Export functionality of the Sheet Index - Export from one DGNWS, and Import into another. That's a much different thing than merging of the DGNWS files as the DGNWS stores more than just the Sheet Index.
I think there has already been an enhancement/change request filed for this. It may help expedite this development if you filed your own request with Bentley. Also post it in the Ideas section in the Modeling and Visualization (MicroStation) Community.

Yes, you are correct. We only need to be able to import/export the sheet index data stored in the dgnws file, more specifically just certain folders. The way it currently is it will be a nightmare on submittal day. We are going to have to try and convince clients to allow a delay on the CADD file portion of the submittal to allow enough time for the prime consultant to bring in all others data into the master dgnws file. Having the subs give us a sheet index transfer manifest log will likely be a big help in this process though.
